We lost a fine checker player and very good friend Tuesday. Some of us knew him in person and others from tournament checkers but he was loved by all who came to know him. Paul promoted NC checkers and gave generously to its cause. Paul was a long time member of ACF, MCA, and a Lifetime member of NCCA. He was an ACF rated 1787 player and won the North Carolina State Open Class B Checker Championship in 2004.
Paul Dingler died Tuesday around 12:00AM in recovery after scheduled surgery. He is at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, 494 E Plaza Drive, Mooresville, NC 28115-5109 (704) 664 4112. Paul Dingler
Paul Lee Dingler, 60, of Mooresville, died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005, at Lake
Norman Regional Medical Center. Born June 26, 1945, in Danville, Va., he was a son of the late Paul Edward
and Velda Pruitt Dingler. He was owner/operator of Shop N Save of Mooresville
for the past 27 years. Mr. Dingler was a member of Fair View United Methodist
Church, Mt. Mourne. He was a member of the American Checker Federation and a
lifetime member of the NC Checker Federation. He was a statistician for the
Mooresville High School football team. Mr. Dingler was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Jordan Dingler.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Glenda Spencer Dingler. Also surviving are his children, Paul Edward “Eddie” Dingler, Penny Dingler
Isenhour and Brian Coleman, all of Mooresville, and Jerremy Coleman of
Lexington; sister, Dianne Rader of Mooresville; and grandchildren, Tyler and
Josh Isenhour and Olivia and Dylan Coleman. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 2, at Fair View United
Methodist Church, with Rev. Bob Mick and Rev. Val Rosengust officiating.
Burial will follow in Glenwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 – 8:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 1, at
Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville.
